Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
TECHNOMAGIC (PVT) LTD ("Ferry", "we", "us", or "our") operates the Ferry Super App (iOS and Android, bundle identifier com.ferrylk.app) and the ferrylk.com website (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Service, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to this policy.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide to us
- Account details: your name, mobile phone number, and email address when you sign up, join the waitlist, or verify your phone via one-time password (OTP).
- Delivery addresses: the street addresses, building details, and map pin locations you save to your account.
- Order information: the items you order, order history, delivery instructions, and your selected payment method (cash, card, or online).
- Chat and support messages: messages you exchange with stores, riders, or our support team through the in-app chat.
- Profile photo (only if you grant permission): an image you choose from your device's photo library to use as your profile picture.
Information collected automatically
- Precise and approximate location (only with your permission, and only while the app is in use) — used to find nearby stores, estimate delivery times, and auto-fill your delivery address. Ferry does not collect or use your location in the background. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
- Device information: device model, operating system version, app version, language, and time zone.
- Usage and diagnostic data: screens visited, in-app actions, crash logs, and timestamps, used to operate and improve the Service.
- Push notification token issued by Apple or Google so we can deliver order updates and announcements.
- Cookies and similar technologies on the website (see Section 6).
Payment information. Card and online payments are processed by our PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. Ferry does not store your full card number, CVV, or expiry date on our servers or on your device.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and secure your account and verify your phone number by OTP.
- Process, deliver, and track your orders, and communicate their status.
- Show you nearby stores and accurate delivery estimates based on your location.
- Enable in-app chat between you, the store, and the rider assigned to your order.
- Send transactional notifications (order, delivery, account) and, where you have opted in, marketing or promotional messages — which you can turn off at any time.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- Improve, troubleshoot, and develop new features for the Service.
- Comply with applicable Sri Lankan laws and respond to lawful requests.
4. App Tracking Transparency (iOS)
Ferry does not track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising purposes, and we do not share your data with third-party data brokers. Because of this, the app does not display Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only as needed to operate the Service:
- Stores and merchants — your name, contact number, delivery address, and order details, so they can prepare your order.
- Delivery riders — your name, contact number, and delivery address, so they can deliver your order.
- Service providers who help us run the Service, bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations:
- Google Maps Platform — for maps, place search, and routing.
- Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging — for delivering push notifications.
- Our SMS provider — for sending OTPs and delivery alerts.
- Our payment processor — for processing card and online payments.
- Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers — for storing data and running the Service.
- Legal and safety — when required by Sri Lankan law, a valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Ferry, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers — if Ferry is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred, subject to this policy.
6. Cookies and Tracking on the Website
The ferrylk.com website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and measure traffic. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some functionality of the website. The mobile app does not use browser cookies; it stores limited data locally on your device (see Section 7).
7. Data Stored on Your Device
The Ferry Super App stores certain data locally on your device to make the app work — for example, your sign-in token, cart contents, saved addresses, and cached images. This data stays on your device and is removed when you sign out or uninstall the app.
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations (such as tax and accounting records), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
9. Account Deletion
You can delete your Ferry account at any time, directly from the app:

Deleting your account removes your profile, saved addresses, and chat history from the app. Order records and transaction records that we are legally required to keep (for example, for tax and accounting purposes) will be retained for the period required by Sri Lankan law and then deleted or anonymised. You may also request deletion by emailing info@ferrylk.com from the email address linked to your account.
10. Data Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), restricted access to production systems, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International Data Transfers
Ferry is operated from Sri Lanka. Some of our service providers (for example, cloud hosting, maps, and push-notification providers) may process data in other countries. Where this happens, we rely on contractual safeguards with those providers to protect your information.
12. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
13. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request deletion of your data, subject to our legal obligations.
- Withdraw consent to marketing communications at any time, by tapping "unsubscribe" in any email or turning off promotional notifications in the app.
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.

14. Permissions Used by the Mobile App
The Ferry Super App requests the following device permissions. You can grant or revoke each one at any time in your device settings.
- Location — to show nearby stores, estimate delivery times, and auto-fill your delivery address.
- Photo Library — to let you pick a profile picture from your device.
- Notifications — to send order, delivery, and account updates.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before the change takes effect, and we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
